Wednesday, 28 December 2011, Kepala Badan Penyuluhan Sumber Daya Manusia Kelautan dan Perikanan (BPSDMKP) is visiting Pontianak due to the Final of "Lomba Kelompencapir Gerakan Masyarakat Minapolitan (GEMPITA)" with six remaning province to compete. I was assigned to documentation section at PPP Sungai Rengas.

I was amazed by the Three Ethnical Dance performed to welcome Kepala BPSDMKP and also The Vice Governor of West Kalimantan. The dance and the music is great. I never knew it was so good to watch a dance from a closer look.

The dance itself was about combination of three ethnic in West Kalimantan, Dyak, Malay and Tionghoa. While the dancers are all beautiful young girls.

I took some shoots, i'll be happy to share some :-)

And also the video although it was pretty bad due to the lack of equipment :'(

2011 > 2012

2011 will be over soon. There are so many things happened in these year. Joy, sorrow, love, sadness, regret, it makes my life a lot more memorable.

“Whatever happens to you, make it either a good memory, or a good lesson”.

There are so many achievements i want to reach by next year, hopefully i could make it happen.

By the way people saying about end of the world at December 2012, course i dont believe in it. But what if it really happen? will i die content? Hahahaha. . . .
;')

Wonderful Day

I opened the door n i saw there was a kitten there. She meow-ed me. I could told the fear in her eyes for seeing a foreign human such as me. I opened my arm and meow-ed back at her. Then i slowly approach her when she meow-ed again at me. I pat her and she liked it, suddenly i felt great that morning.

I wonder how a small kitten make me feel today is gonna be a good day.
Good morning everybody :-)

Holiday

I arrived in Entikong at five on Sunday. The border was crowded with peoples from Indonesia (most of them were from Pontianak, i recognize some of them). The immigration progress took around two hours. Then around seven, we departed from Entikong and arrived in Kuching at nine.

Our friend Fredy already await us at the bus station. He was with his colleagues Mery (She spoke funny English, which soon i realize most of Malays does, though i was no better >_<). Since she can only accompany on that day, we asked her to drove us everywhere :-).

From the bus station, Mery drove us to Boulevard to have a breakfast with her Kancil (car). Then we went to get a room at Kapit Hotel. The lady at Kapit suggested us to ask the girls next door do they want to join us travel or not. Since they were from Pontianak too and the car rental was a lot cheaper with more peoples.

From the Hotel we drove to The Spring. It was a crowded mall with expensive goods so we bought nothing then we had our lunch there. We shocked that the chicken were gigantic there, twice as big as Pontianak's chicken @_o.

Fredy said there's Sunday Market that day, so we went there too. But there was nothing special, except the fact that Roby got ripped of by buying SIM Card at RM 28.

Then we moved to Friendship Park. It was a lovely park with a huge pool filled with a lot of big fishes (it was already dark when we arrived there, we couldn't see any fishes that time). Before going back to the Hotel, we had a break at Starbuck which was very pricey.

The second day (Monday), we asked the girls next door as suggested and they agreed. We went to Damai Beach but unfortunately after an hour traveling with rented car, it rain. We cant play at the beach due to the rain :-(.

Then we moved to the Orchid Garden but then again it was not our day, it closed due to holiday :-(.

From Orchid Garden we went to Ching San Yan Temple. The temple is located around riverbank. The view was fabulous, to bad that the riverbank got so many settlement. We had our lunch at the seafood restaurant around there.

The next was Friendship Park again because the girls had never been there and it was at dusk. So we might see fishes which we didn't yesterday. The fishes were big and fat.

Before we ended our ride we took a break in front of South Kuching City Hall. The front yard was well kept with beautiful flowers everywhere.

We end our ride around five, it was a fun ride :-)

Aquascaping

Hi everybody, :-)

Recently one of my colleagues brought an aquarium to the office. "Rather than got wasted in his house" so he said.

Then he introduced me to aquascaping. At first thought it was about "water" and "scenery" coming from "aqua" and "scape". I was wrong it is much more than that. Let's take a look at wikipedia :-)

"Aquascaping is the craft of arranging aquatic plants, as well as rocks, stones, cavework, or driftwood, in an aesthetically pleasing manner within an aquarium—in effect, gardening under water. Aquascape designs include a number of distinct styles, including the garden-like Dutch style and the Japanese-inspired nature style. Typically, an aquascape houses fish as well as plants, although it is possible to create an aquascape with plants only, or with rockwork or other hardscape and no plants.

Although the primary aim of aquascaping is to create an artful underwater landscape, the technical aspects of aquatic plant maintenance must also be taken into consideration. Many factors must be balanced in the closed system of an aquarium tank to ensure the success of an aquascape. These factors include filtration, maintaining carbon dioxide at levels sufficient to support photosynthesis underwater, substrate and fertilization, lighting, and algae control."

I don't know how he worked it out, but the next day i show up at the office the aquarium already filled with some plants and algaes but no fishes. He said in order to steady the closed system and prepared the environtment, the fishes must not put in for the next few days.

Finally when the few days already passed, my friend added some fishes in to the aquarium. He said it was Rasbora, small fishes with yellow or redish body and a Lithogenes (ikan sapu-sapu).

Rasbora has a beautiful colors and they live in group, while Lithogenes is a friendly omnivorae fish.

At least our office has something green to refresh our eyes from a tiring activity such as looking at the computer or laptop for a long time. I just don't know why, but this aquascape capable of making me to spend some times just by looking at it and i just feels calm and refreshed.

When i moved to my new house, i'll like to try aquascaping :-)

Surat Yang Menginspirasi

Hi dreamer !! Bagaimana keadaan kalian sekarang? Sedang sibuk? Sedang mengerjakan sesuatu? Frustasi, stress, tertekan, kehabisan ide?

So dreamer, don’t give up and keep persisting on achieving your dream..

Civil Servant

I'm going to share my experience as a Civil Servant in Marine and Fisheries Agency of West Kalimantan Province.

It all started when i was reading newspaper that there was vacancies for Civil Servants in West Kalimantan Province. At first I thought i just wanted to see how good I did on the entrance exam.

Many people applied for the exam but only a few passed it. "It must be damn hard to get in" that was on my mind, so i applied for the exam.

Applying the exam was not easy, there were a lot of preparation needed such as "Kartu Pencari Kerja", "Identity Card" and it's copy, "Certificate" from elementary school to high school and their copies as well as some photos, and what i hate the most was some statements ("surat pernyataan") because it must be hand-written and follow several rules. I had to write it for several times before I got the final one.

Application

As i thought about it over and over, i became more and more interested in becoming civil servant. Well before that, i'll talk about the application first.

I applied civil servant with my friend Adi. We were both from "Sekolah Tinggi Manajemen Informatika dan Komputer Pontianak" majoring at Information Technology.

There were six vacancies for us from Information Technology major and many more for other major.

I handed in my application to the commitee at Civil Servant Board of West Kalimantan Province ("Badan Kepegawaian Daerah KalBar"). It was very crowded and took a long time because the commitee had to checked every required documents.

While checking my application, the commitee told me to come back the following day for the exam id card.

A week later, from the notice board infront of Civil Servant Board of West Kalimantan Province i found out that there were about 54 peoples from the same major who were competiting for this vacancies including me and Adi. Actually our chances were pretty high compared to other major, about one to fifty four (1/54) while the other might be down to one to hundreads.

The Exam

The exam was what i called as a luck competition. It was damn hard.

The exam was divided into three kinds. The first one was general knowledge, math and then maturity scale.

When i looked at the first part, i felt like "What the f*ck". This was the reason why i called it a luck competition, i can't do any number in this part, so i just randomly picked answers.

Well the other two were completely piece of cakes. hehehehehe :-)

The Results

It was about a month later until the notification (Desember 2010). I went back to the Civil Servant Board of West Kalimantan Province. On the notice board i found out that i scored 70.2 and rank 2nd for Information Technology major. While Adi didn't make it :-(

Around February 2011 i was contacted by the commitee, i was told to attend an acceptance event at Kapuas Hotel.

The new recruits were appointed to each board/agency, so was i. I was appointed to Marine and Fisheries Agency.

I was pretty confused, i don't know anything about fish except they're edible >_<

There was 17 new recruits for Marine and Fisheries Agency, so at least i was not alone. Though i was the only chinese guy. Hahahaha. . . .

Work

I started working on the first of March. I was enthusiastic :-)

Some friends warned me about the treatment from the other officers. But luckily i got good friends at the office and got the same treatment as any other new recruits.

On the first two weeks, we (the new recruits) were being introduced to each division. There are five divisions at Marine and Fisheries Agency of West Kalimantan Province; Division of Capture Fisheries (Bidang Perikanan Tangkap), Division of Culture Fisheries (Bidang Perikanan Budidaya), Division of Processing Fisheries (Bidang Pengolahan dan Pemasaran Hasil Perikanan), Division of Coastal Surveillance (Bidang Pengawasan Pesisir dan Pulau-Pulau Kecil) and Secretariat (Sekretariat/Tata Usaha). While each division still divided into several sections.

We were divided into several groups consist of two or three recruits, and each group appointed to each division for three days. After three days the group appointed to the next division.

Then at the end of the introduction, we were appointed to each division. I was appointed to Secretariat, Planning and Monitoring Evaluation Section (Bagian Rencana Kerja dan Monitoring Evaluasi).

Reasons

Many people asked me "Why a chinese guy like urself wanted to be a civil servant, aren't chinese guy more attracted and talented to becoming a merchant?". I smiled :-) and i answered "there are so many things i can achieve by becoming a civil servant".

More stable salary, better financial security, postgraduate schoolarship, and what made me sure was earlier off hour so i could look for other business possibilities.

Hiatus

The last time i wrote something in this blog is about two years ago. Just suddenly i feel like to write again. So for the starting post. i'll be saying "sorry for the long hiatus".

There's so much i want to do in this blog. I want it to be an album of my sketch, and diary for my thought, a place to share experiences and much more. Hahahaha. . . .
